Just as people come in all different shapes and sizes, so does the strength-training equipment, classes and training staff at Fitness World. We offer three different circuits of machine weights  Cybex Galileo, Body Masters, and Hammer Strength, so that everyone can find the right machines to work with.

 

We have an extensive free-weight area, plus three different kinds of dumbbells located in the free-weight room, circuit room and aerobics room. We have various sizes of exercise and medicine balls along with a variety of equipment for abdominal exercises.  We also offer several classes a week that incorporate toning sections with free weights, exertubes, and boxing gloves. And if you need some personalized help, you can always turn to our staff of certified trainers for fitness orientation or training sessions.

Group Training

During this 8-week program, participants meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a 1-hour small group workout with certified personal trainers.  Participants choose 18 of 24 sessions to participate in according to their schedule.  The program includes fitness assessments, cardiovascular conditioning, weight training, stretching exercises, and nutrition counseling.  Fitness assessments are performed at the beginning and end of the program.  Participants will meet individually with a personal trainer in a follow-up session to develop a comprehensive workout program.  Individual and couple packages are available.  There is also a per session fee for those who wish to try out the program.  Contact us at 544-9000 for more information.

Fitness Orientation
Fitness Orientation is a FREE service in which a Fitness World personal trainer meets with you and 3 - 4 other members to discuss your health and fitness goals, assess your physical fitness and level of readiness, customize a workout program for you, and show you how to do the various exercises prescribed. The instructor will show you how to use all of the cardiovascular equipment, the circuit weight training machines, and the cable system and climbing wall if you desire.  

 

Fitness Orientation is a great choice for new members, people who have special fitness goals, needs, or limitations, or those who just want to try something new. You can schedule an appointment at any time of the year, and while we ask that you don't abuse the service, it is available free of charge for as many sessions as you feel you need.  Meeting in a group setting is a fun way to learn new exercises and meet new friends!

 

Sessions need to be booked in advance at the front desk.  Cancellations need to be made 24 hours in advance of appointment.

Fitness Assessment

Conducted by a certified personal trainer, this free assessment includes a health pre-screening, basic measurements of heart rate, blood pressure, and body fat percentage, and tests to assess muscular strength and endurance, cardiovascular fitness, and flexibility.  Results are compared against population standards so you will know how fit you are compared to others your age.  This 45 minute assessment also includes a fitness consultation and recommendations by the personal trainer.   Sign up at the front desk.

Body Fat Testing

This free assessment provides you with an estimate of your body fat percentage using skinfold calipers at 3 sites.  Girth measurements and calculation of you body mass index are also available.  The trainer will follow up with a brief fitness consultation. Sign up at the front desk
